Using the right composition and size of welding consumable is key to ensuring that the final weld is structurally sound and of the right quality for the job. When considering the right welding adaptors, welding cap electrodes, or welding electrodes for your welding job, it is important to consider what the weld will need to withstand throughout its lifetime, for example:

• whether the weld will be load bearing or subjected to pressure, and whether those loads/pressures will be constant, or varying;
• whether the weld needs to be resistant to certain types of corrosion (for example, whether it will be exposed to the weather over its lifetime, or certain chemicals or sea water);
• and whether the weld needs to be able to withstand extreme or fluctuating temperatures.
